Coach's Comments
Game 16:
In our last regular season game we ended on a high note with an impressive 7-2 win with only 8 players against the 3rd place team to secure 2nd place in Div.1 with a 13-2-1 overall record. Superman earned the game ball pitching a shut-out inning and contributing on offense with 2 RBIs. CeCe also had 2 hits and 2 RBIs and K4U ended the season with a 9 KO outing facing only 14 batters. Needless to say this was a very good season for all the Golden Gloves.
Game 15:
Another hard fought battle this week ended in a 6-6 tie as our defensive woes continue to plague us. Creepy 1 led the way again this week with a 2 RBI game tying hit earning the game ball in back to back games. Scoop also contributed with 2 RBIs along with Superman adding an RBI knock. K4U had 8 KOs in 3 innings of work.
Game 14:
The Golden Gloves suffered only their 2nd loss of the year this week after leading the game 7-0 in the 3rd inning only to lose 9-10 in a very exciting game. Offensively we had 9 hits from pretty much everyone up and down the line-up, but we continue to suffer from post Spring Break syndrome on defense, allowing too many runs to score on errors and poor fielding. Creepy 1 led the offense to earn the game ball with two hard liners for a double and single.
Game 13:
Although a bit rusty on both offense and defense after Spring Break the Golden Gloves managed to pull off their 12th win with a 6-5 victory. K4U pitched 3 shut-out innings facing only 11 batters with 9 KOs to earn the game ball.
Game 12:
The Golden Gloves survived a hard fought battle against a solid team this week with a 13-5 victory. Spunky and K4U kept the game in hand while the offense took charge with 11 hits and 13 RBIs from pretty much everyone up and down the line-up. Creepy2 earned the game ball driving in the go ahead run on one of her two hits for the day.
Game 11:
The Golden Gloves improved their record to 10-1 this season with a 11-5 win this week with excellent pitching, timely hitting and solid defense. Spitfire earned the game ball with two 6-3 put-outs on defense and leading the offense with a 2 RBI single. CeCe, Scoop, Spunky and Noodle also contributed with single knocks. K4U and Spunky combined for 3 innings of shut-out pitching facing only 11 batters, earning 4 KOs and 3 KOs respectively.
Game 10:
The Golden Gloves won their 9th game this season. Spunky earned game ball for pitching a shut-out inning with 3 KOs allowing only 1 hit in relief and leading the offense with a 2 RBI single. K4U also contributed with 2 hits & 2RBIs along with CeCe, Noodle, and Slugger who added RBI singles in the 12-11 win.
Game 9:
The Golden Gloves amassed 11 hits in a 13-0 shut-out this week. Pretty much everyone on the team contributed with a hit and/or RBI. CeCe earned the game ball with 2 hits and a RBI bunt single which kicked off a 5 run rally. Spunky, Tazzzz and K4U split duties on the mound combining great pitching with a stingy defense to keep the shut-out in tact.
Game 8:
The Golden Gloves survived a hard fought 8-3 match this week with outstanding defense, clutch hitting and dominant pitching. Scoop led the defensive efforts with 3 put-outs at home from Tazzzz, K4U and Spitfire to keep the score in hand. Superman led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBIs earning the game ball. Scoop also added 2 hits with both Spunky and Creepy2 contributed with 1 RBI each. Spunky's RBI was the highlight of the game executing a perfect squeeze bunt, allowing Scoop to slide under the tag. K4U pitched 3 shut-out innings with 7 KOs and Tazzzz allowed only 3 runs in relief.
Game 7:
The Golden Gloves got back on the horse and swung the bats well in our 6th win this season in a 12-9 victory. CeCe, Creepy2, Superman, Scoop, Slugger, Noodle and K4U contributed to the hit parade with Noodle earning the game ball with a 2 RBI knock.
Game 6:
It finally happened...the Golden Gloves suffered our 1st defeat in a 5-11 contest against another solid team who made several exceptional defensive plays on some hard hit balls by Scoop, K4U and CeCe that kept us off the bases. Slugger slugged in 3RBIs off her 1st two hits this season to earn the game ball. Creepy2 had a knock and CeCe contributed with a RBI single as well. K4U kept the game in hand allowing only 3 runs in the 1st 3 innings with 5KOs, but too many walks in the last two innings put the game out of reach.
Game 5:
The Golden Gloves kept the streak going with their 5th win over a good hitting team this week. Scoop earned the game ball with 2 hits and 4 RBIs on offense and a put-out @ 3B to prevent a steal on defense. CeCe, Spitfire and K4U also contributed with key hits and RBIs in the 9-2 win. Spunky allowed only 2 runs in the 2nd inning and K4U pitched 3 shut-out innings with 5KOs.
Game 4:
The Golden Gloves managed their 4th straight win with a 14-4 result. Our 1st year player Noodle led the hit parade with a 2 RBI single with bases loaded while CeCe, Scoop, Spunky, Creepy2, and K4U also contributed with single knocks. Creepy1 led the defensive effort with a spectacular 2 out, bases loaded, line drive catch in center field. Spunky and K4U pitched an inning each and allowed Tazzzz to come in and close out the game allowing no runs in her very 1st appearance this season.
Game 3:
The Golden Gloves kept the ball rolling with another win with great hitting and solid defense. Contributing to the hit parade was K4U, Scoop, Spitfire, Spunky, and Tazzzz who combined for 7 hits in the 14-10 final score. Scoop recorded her 2nd put-out in 3 games with a great catch and tag by Spitfire who layed down the tag to prevent the steal.
Game 2:
Despite having to start the game with 8 players and finish with 7 the Golden Gloves managed another hard fought 11-7 win. Slugger did a fantastic job behind the plate after Scoop fell ill and had to leave the game. However with our clean-up hitter out of the game we continued to swing the bat and got key hits thru the line-up from CeCe, Spitfire, Creepy2, Superman and K4U. Spunky kept the game in hand on the mound and allowed K4U to close out the last two innings with 6 straight KOs.
Game 1:
The Golden Gloves are off to a great start with a hard fought 7-6 win that came down to the bottom of the 5th inning in which Spunky smashed a walk-off liner to knock in the game winning RBI. Scoop contributed with 'only' 5RBIs, a put-out @ 2B and tag-out @ home to prevent a score. We also had good defensive plays by Creepy2 and Spitfire in the field to keep their runners to a minimum. K4U had 9 KOs and allowed our closer Spunky to come in and manage the save. Even our newest player Noodle contributed with a hit at her very 1st at bat.
