What a dramatic opening week for the Green Flash!

 

Opening Day at Aubrey Park saw the Greenies down 3-0 with two out and nobody on in the home half of the final inning, playing Poway 1.  The Green Flash then pounded out 5 straight hits to score four two-out runs and win the game, 4-3.  Katie and Madi each knocked in two runs in the amazing rally.

 

After a flat night losing to Mira Mesa 2 on Monday, the Flash traveled to Scripps Ranch Tuesday night.  Again trailing by three runs in the sixth inning, 6-3, the Green Flash scored three times in the sixth and once in the seventh to take a 7-6 lead.  Madi scored the decisive run on a steal of third base and a "mad" dash home when the throw got away from the Scripps Ranch 2 team.  Madi sealed the victory by starting a game-ending double-play while playing 2B in the bottom of the 7th.

 

Two last-minute come-from-behind victories in four days thrilled the fans and shocked the opponents.  Kellsie pitched three super games for the Green Flash, who now have a 2-1 record.

March 31:  Scripps Ranch1 5, Green Flash 2.  A 1-1 tie after 5 innings, the Flash faded a bit defensively in the sixth, as they battled an outstanding Scripps pitcher.

 

April 2:   Green Flash 7, North Shore1 3.  A solid game for the Flash.  The defensive highlight was Diana's perfect throw to Alexis at 2B to nail the only runner who tried to steal.  The North Shore coach said it was the first time he had seen that player caught stealing in three years...

 

April 7:  Green Flash 13, RB2 2.  Brianna pitched a great game as our substitute pitcher, and smacked a double and triple to boot.  India pitched her first inning of softball and recorded her first "K".  Katie launched a homerun to highlight the Green offensive effort.

 

April 10:  Green Flash 5, Poway Electric Shock 3.  A strong defensive effort and clutch hitting backed up another super effort in the pitching circle by Kellsie, as the Flash zapped the Electric Shock.  Carlie lashed a two-out two-run double and made outstanding plays at both first and third base.  Anna K was on-base all three times, and as catcher threw a runner out stealing in the last inning.

 

April 11:  Green Flash 9, RB1 4.  The Flash batted around in the first inning to jump start a solid all-around game, highlighted by a lot of spirit and enthusiasm.

 

April 14:  Green Flash 7, Poway Red Bulls 5.  A strong team effort leads the Flash to lasso the Bulls.  Each of the Flash's seven runs was scored by a different player.  Diana, Brianna, Erin, and Kellsie each knocked an extra-base hit off the fence.
