Coach's Comments

Welcome to another season of PGSL softball.

Coaches commitment:
Electric Shock will learn through hard work, personal goals, and friendship just how to come together as a team.

With practices over and games starting, Electric Shock is ready to "Play Ball".

02/26 Electric Shock starts their season on the road to Mira Mesa.  Meeting up with a solid pitcher we are put to the challenge right away.  Our bats were quiet for most of the game but did spark up at the end to show a never quite attitude by the team. Loss 9-2

03/03 Our first home game has us matched up against a very strong Red Bull.  Solid pitching and defense by both teams kept the game tight.  Bats are coming alive and our team is improving every touch of the ball. Loss 4-3

03/08  Electric Shocks travels to RB. With the loss of their starting pitcher to JV we found pitch selection important. Rewards were solid hits and good base running. Challenging ourselves we opened our strike zone and started free swinging to get better.  Our pitching also continues to improve as we introduce a new pitcher. We how have four pitchers in the bull pin. Win 19-0

03/10  Scripps Ranch comes into town and they show a strong presence.  Electric Shock takes a step backwards as they struggle through most of the game. Bats are still improving and sparks of good defense shows we are not quitters. The after game talk was about team focus during the warm ups and games. Loss 9-4

03/13  Electric Shock travels to Scripps for another game under the lights.  This time the team focused and ready.  We faced another strong Scripps team only this time our hitting and defense came together and we played great softball.  Jumping out to an early lead we were able to stay in control of the game and never look back. Win 5-1

03/16  We find ourselves at North Shore and this time sort a few players.  More play time was the reward and all of the girls took advantage of it.  First inning we forced N/S to change pitching as pitch selection was our strong point and their starter had control problems.  Jumping out to a four run lead we played good softball but N/S battled back and took a two run lead. Still relaxed and confident (the girls, not the coach) we came back with a two run HR to tie.  In the top of the last inning with the game tied and bases loaded Electric Shock came through again with a grand slam HR.  Our closer took over after that and struck out the side to end the game. Win 10-6

03/17  Four games in seven days proved to be too much for us as we faced a scrappy PQ.  Bats were flat and pitchers struggled to make this our game we will forget. Loss ??-?

03/21  Facing another North Shore team we jumped out to an early 2 run lead. North Shore made a pitcher change and produced a few runs of their own. Going into the last inning Electric Shock scored another run to take the lead again and with great defensive in the bottom of the last inning shut down North Shore. It was good to see the team put their last game behind them, regain the focus and play exciting softball. Without a doubt, our hitting throughout the line up made this game a team victory. Win 3-2.

03?24  Traveling over to PQ for a chance to redeem ourselves after our last meet against a PQ team we found ourselves battling yet another tight game.  We ran out of time and innings this time but another great team effort and support from all players made this a close game.  Loss 3-2

03/28  Again on the road, this time to Mira Mesa High School.  With everybody healthy and hungering for a win we again battled.  Great hitting and much support from the defense allowed us to debut another new pitcher.  She pitched to four batters and got three outs.  Again our bull pin expands.  For the most part our hitting overpowered both of the MM pitchers and our three pitchers kept them off balance. Win 9-2

03/31  NO GAME

04/04  Having a week off showed as it took more than expected to get refocused again and play the kind of game we know.  North Shore opened the game with 4 runs and never looked back.  Errors in the field was our down fall. Our hitting continues to be our strangest and that did not change this game.  Loss 11-10

04/07  After clearing the static from last game Electric Shock is back and fully charged.  My request was to stay on track with hitting but bring extra focus to our defense.  We jumped out to a early lead and stayed in front dispite the late game come back made by RB. Our three pitchers kept most of The hitters off balance and our hitting put the game away.  Win 7-6

04/10  Electric Shock starts the game with an early lead but just can't keep it. We did however force the P2 to keep their best defense in position for most of the game and that shows improvement on our part. Pitchers struggled a little bit and errors in the field gave the other the Green Flash to much opportunity for us to overcome. Loss 5-3

04/12 Back to RB for our last season game against this league. The biggest challange in this game was to control the game and continue to play at our level of play.  Electric Shock did well though at the end we did wobble a bit.  After game discuss was to maintain focus for our next game and continue to play solid softball.
Win 7-6

04/13 Back at our home field to play our final home game of the season and it is a good one.  We stayed focused and continued to play our kind of game if a player struggled at the plate they stepped up on the field defensively. Both teams were well ballanced and this became an overall team effort win.

04/14-04/21 Spring break. Have a safe and happy vacation. We look forward to the end of season tournament.

04/23 Superleague Tournament starts.
