============
Next game Tues Apr 10 vs. PQ2 @ Aubrey Park @ 5pm
Apr 7:
Both teams had their hitting shoes on. PQ1 opened the scoring in the 1st inning with 3 runs, but the Red Bulls answered back with 5 runs of their own in the bottom half of the first. PQ1 added 2 runs in the 4th to tie the score 5-5. But the Red Bulls weren't done yet. Our girls put the game out of reach in the 5th taking the lead for good behind big hits by Courtney and Megan to drive in Natalie, Shelly and Amber who were each on base multiple times in the game. Sarah H. had a solid hit in the 6th and scored later in the inning. The pitching duo of Courtney and Megan were able to shut PQ1 down for the remainder of this 7 inning game. All the girls contributed to this team victory and gave PQ1 their first defeat in 6 games.
Win 9-5.
Players of the Game:
Megan - 1 for 3, 3 RBIs, good pitching
Courtney - 2 for 3, 3 RBIs, 10 K's pitching
Apr 3:
Getting an opportunity to face the Poway Skittles, the Red Bulls were all fired up. Our girls rebounded from the last game with solid hitting from throughout the lineup, pounding out 11 hits. Our cheering from the "bullpit" was outstanding too! Courtney had a big game hitting and pitching! With the Red Bulls ahead 4-2 after 2 innings, Sarah F. and Brooks hit back to back doubles to extend the lead to 9-4 after 3 innings. Heidee had a nice game opening the game with a hit and making a key catch in left field in the 4th to help keep the Skittles from having a big inning. With the Skittles threatening in the 5th, Brooks made a great defensive play of a hot smash at 2nd and threw out the runner ending the Skittle rally. Win 11-8
Players of the Game:
Offense: Heidee - 1 for 1, 2BB, scored 2 runs
Sarah F - 1 for 2, 2 RBIs, scored a run, plus pitched an inning
Defense: Brooks - great play at 2nd base, plus 1 for 1, 1RBI, 1 BB, scored 1 run.
Mar 31:
Our girls ran into a tough Mira Mesa1 team who had an excellent pitcher, solid defense and one of the best hitting teams we have faced this season. A 3 run HR to the parking lot by MM1 proved too much for the Red Bulls to overcome as the Red Bulls were only able to muster 1 run led by a solid hit by Jennifer and a RBI by Lilliana. Loss 7-1.
Players of the game:
Defense: Natalie, -2 nice plays at SS, 1 at 3rd base
Offense: Jennifer - 2 for 2, scored a run.
Mar 30:
The Red Bulls jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning anchored by a 2 run HR by Megan. The girls threatened again in the 2nd, but were unable to push any runs across. Unfortunately as has been the case too many times this season, our girls seem to lose focus at some point during the game. This time it cost us a few runs as North Shore 2 pulled ahead 6-3. Our feisty Red Bulls were not going to go down without a fight though. The girls regained their focus, and behind solid hitting led by a 2 RBI double by Sarah H. the girls cut the lead to 7-6. Both teams battled hard. Our Red Bulls threatened again leaving the bases loaded in the last inning ... we fell a little short, but the coaches were happy that the girls didn't give up and made a game of it. Our goal for Saturdays game is to play solid defense and keep our focus throughout the game. Loss 8-6.
Player of the Game: Megan - 2 for 3, 1 HR and 2 RBIs.
Mar 26:
In the Red Bulls best game of the season, the pitching, hitting and defense were all in sync. The girls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and never looked back. North Shore 1 threatened in the first, but the Red Bulls were able to pull off a double play to end the threat. Every girl contributed to this team victory as the hitting was outstanding throughout the lineup! The defensive gem of the game was a backhand of a hot smash at third made by Sarah H. followed by a perfect throw to first to nail the runner. Sarah F. closed out the game pitching a scoreless 1-2-3 5th inning.
Win 13-0
Players of the game:
Defense: Sarah H - two great defensive plays at 3rd base
Offense: Shelly - 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs.
Mar 24:
In a very early morning game at Scripps Ranch1, the Red Bulls battled hard. Megan, Natalie, and Sarah F, who have been practicing diligently, pitched their hearts out. Once again the hitting was strong, but the defense could have been a bit better. A few more defensive plays could have made the score much closer. The Red Bulls came to within 3 runs behind 5 straight hits in the 4th including a double by Sarah F, and a three run double by Shelly. One of the bright moments of the day was Lilly playing 2nd base getting an assist from Megan who flipped it to Lilly as she covered 1st base. Her smile was absolutely priceless! Loss 14-6.
Player of the game: Sarah F. - 2 doubles and pitched a scoreless 5th inning.
Mar 19:
Our girls came ready to play! In the Red Bulls best game of the season, the girls played well defensively and offensively throughout the game. The Red Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first only to be tied by good hitting by Mira Mesa 3 to tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the first. It didn't take the Red Bulls long to take the lead for good led by great hitting from Megan, and Courtney who each homered and excellent bunting by Sarah F and Emily. On the defensive end, the fans, coaches, and players enjoyed watching Emily get dirty. The defensive gem of the day was in the 6th with a runner on first, when Emily dove for a ball in front of the plate, knocked it down and fired over to Amber to get the force out at second base. Win 8-4.
Players of the game:
Offense: Megan - Triple, and HR, two RBIs
Defense: Emily - great catching, plus a SAC bunt and a single
Mar 17:
In a tough game for the Red Bulls vs North Shore 3, the Red Bulls were down early 2-0, and came back to take the lead 3-2. The score remained 3-2 until the 6th and last inning when the girls had some problems defensively ultimately coming out on the short end. The defensive highlight of the game was a pick off play from Emily at catcher to first baseman Megan to Natalie at short stop to tag the runner trying to steal. Loss 6-3.
Player of the game: Amber - 3 for 3 at the plate (double and 2 singles, 1 RBI).
Mar 14:
After going down 3-0 early, the Red Bulls chipped away and battled all game long. The girls closed the gap to 3-2 in third behind a 2 run HR by Jennifer, and took the lead in the 4th 4-3. North Shore 2 and the Red Bulls were tied 5-5 going into the 6th inning, when the bats came alive again. In dramatic fashion, with two outs, Brooks led off the 6th with a walk, followed by 5 straight hits to take the lead for good 8-5. The Red Bulls added 1 more in the top of the inning. Courtney pitched a strong game to close it out. Win 9-5.
Players of the game:
Offense: Brooks - Triple, BB. and scored 2 runs.
Jennifer - HR, Triple, 3 RBIs.
Defense: Courtney - 8 Ks, 4 defensive plays.
Mar 10:
In a beautiful day against a tough Scripps Ranch team, the Red Bulls played hard in a very competitive game. Pitching on both sides was very good. Megan had a good game at the plate with a solid hit to the outfield and Jennifer had her best game yet. Heidee did well in her first game. Welcome Heidee! The girls are fired up to play their next game. Loss 3-2.
Player of the game:
Jennifer - 2 Hits and 2 stolen bases.
Mar 5th:
The girls came out ready to play. They ran the bases very well and played good defense. Every girl was on base and contributed to our win. RB had a tough game with their starting pitcher missing, but our girls were great sports. You stay classy Poway!!! Win 14-3.
Player of Game - Lilliana ... on base all 3 times and had one RBI.
Mar 3rd:
Behind good pitching against a tough Electric Shock team, the girls jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. Lilliana got her first hit of her career and Megan pitched a scoreless final inning. Win 4-3.
Player of Game - Courtney ... great pitching and hitting.
