You girls are on a run! Those bats are on fire. It was so exciting last Saturday to see all of you hitting the ball. Don't know if you realize it but as of today there isn't a single girl on the team that doesn't have multiple hits. But enough on offense, I am more of a "defense wins games" coach and those gloves are like vacuums. Everyone is learning how to approach the ground balls and throw to first. I lost count on how many 6-3, 1-3, and 4-3 outs we got. Can't leave our 3rd base out. I think we had 2 force outs at third that last game. Let's not forget the popups. We even had one of those caught behind the plate today. Yeah!
My favorite part was today. Even though we got down by score early no one gave up. I didn't see any heads hanging and everyone was giving their all. It paid off. In the 4th, the hits exploded (off live pitching) and you guys scored!!! I also loved to hear those loud positive cheers drowning out the swing batters and pushing your team mates on to success.
It's been a great 1st half of a season. GO DRAGONS!!!

Great Game Dragons! I was really impressed with how all of you came together and played like a team. Again I saw a lot of great backups. Players were in their positions and covering the right bases at the right times. Our hitters were smashing the balls and runners were taking good leadoffs and watching their coaches for signs. It was also very nice to see how some of our other girls can pitch. We had 3 new pitchers and all did a good job getting strikes. We'll keep giving those girls who want to try pitching to give it a chance over next few games.
Hope you all have a good week at school and see you at our next game on Thursday.
GO DRAGONS!!!!

Wow Dragons! You girls are awesome! It has been a great 2 opening weeks. Everyone is hitting the ball. We have a long list of pitchers. The fielding is wonderful and I see everyone picking up the ball and having the right idea which base to throw to. I figured we'd be half way into April before you were doing all these things. It is so exciting to watch you girls play Softball.
Congrats on your first win today. (I know we aren't really counting, but you girls all know exactly what is going on. That makes even more fun coaching.)
Keep up the hard work and those wonderful smiles on the field.

Dragons, that was an awesome opening day. I saw a lot of smiles and what looked like a lot of fun going on at the opening day ceremonies this morning. Did realize our snapDragons were such great hula hoopers. I think we had 3 or 4 of the final 7. I also saw some great freeze dancing. Oh by the way a big thank you to those dragons that helped their coach keep that hula hoop moving around his waist. Couldn't have done it without you.
This afternoon was also awesome. Everyone looked great on the field and swinging the bats. The pitchers were throwing strikes and the fielders were stopping the ball. The Coach Kates from the Ketch-Up and I were talking that we couldn't believe how well both teams were playing and how quickly they made the transitions. It took us almost the entire year before we got a full 5 innings in last year. Also, we totalled it up and I don't think the coaches got to throw to more that 10 or so of the girls the entire game from both sides. (that was especially good for our girls) All kidding aside that means the girls are swinging at the good pitches and those from the other girls pitching. We had at leat 3-4 hits off the girl's pitching, again something that took several games last year before we saw the first of those. MKK take good care of Snappy!

Go Dragons! That was an awesome set of practices today. I didn't know what to expect with the pitching machine and cages. The girls did excellent and all of them were hitting. A few minor tweaks for some of the girls and we saw linedrive after linedrive.
I almost owed a few ice creams today. I told the girls if they hit it back up the middle and through the hole in the fence to hit the pitching machine I owed them an ice cream. I saw at least 8-10 hits that were only an inch or two away from sending me to the ice cream parlor.
I think all the girls enjoyed having Coach Rachel come and teach them the basics of pitching. She was great with the girls and I think we found a few more arms for our pitching arsenal. We’ll definitely have Coach Rachel come back and work with the girls in the future. Also a big thanks to the Elyssa and Dan for opening their backyard for the pitching lessons. Coach Jim

It was great getting the girls back on the infield. We were very happy to see how well the work they have done on catching and throwing translated to infield. When we told the girls to run out to their positions everyone went to the right spots. No one stood on 2nd base when told they were playing 2nd. I liked seeing all those ground balls caught and strong accurate throws over to first. Those line drives and popups that were caught also looked sharp. No one got frazzled when we added runners to the basepaths. I think we even got a runner going into 2nd out and another one at 3rd. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday and at the clinics on Sunday. For those going out of town for "winter break", we wish you safe and fun travels. Coach Jim

Great to see most of you out at the clinic on Saturday. The Poway High girls did and awesome job. I think all the girls learned some new skills and had a lot of fun.
Today we had a good group of girls come out for the pitching and catching sessions. I still encourage all of you who want to try pitching to come out. The league has arranged for some great instructors. Go Dragons! Coach Jim

The Blue snapDragons are looking great after their first two practices. All the girls are throwing strong and straight. Not only are they catching while tossing in warm ups they are also catching the pop ups our assistants are throwing. As for batting, even our new tee-ballers are hitting the live pitching. But most of all I am excited to see how well the girls listen and their desire to learn. It is going to be a fun season... Coach Jim
