Coach's Comments Start here ...

7/29/08
The Diamonds played two pool games today and won both. We played Bakersfield Blast and won 10-7. Then we played Albuquerque Sol and beat them 5-2.
Results of the team contests so far:
    Alayna took first place in pitching.
    Waiting for results of combined team and batting.

7/30/08
We played our first bracket game tonight and came out on fire, winning handily 17-0 against Visalia Spirits. The weather has definitely been hot!
Tomorrow we play at 10am against Pleasanton Phantom. We're gonna kick butt!

7/31/08
We played Pleasanton today and won 8-6. We were ahead 8-4 going into the 7th inning when Pleasanton started a rally with bases loaded and one out. Fortunately we pulled it together and only gave them two runs at the end. Temperatures reached 112 degrees!
We play Santee tomorrow morning at 8am. We're gonna keep on kicking butt!

8/1/08
We kicked butt! What a game! Santee has had our number all year and today we went in with an unlisted number. We beat Santee 8-5 in a comeback in the last inning. We were down 5-2 for most of the game. We tied them up and carried the momentum into the final inning where we were top of the order. We got runners on and sub'd in our speed. Bases loaded, a wild pitch earned one run. Then a line drive down the third base side drove in two more runs. Time's up! We win! Good game Santee!
We play RB at 6pm tonight.

Right now we're in the top 12 and looking for more :)

OK we got more. Played RB who we haven't had a problem with lately but we had to rely on more late inning heroics to pull this one out. Behind 4-1 we had to turn out a 4-run fifth inning to take the lead and held on until time expired to win 5-4 in 7 innings. Phew! RB went on to win their loser's bracket game so they're still in it too. Yayyy!

Now we're in the top 6 and have a very large, very tough South Huntington Beach team in the semi-finals tomorrow morning.

We played a great game against South Huntington Beach this morning but unfortunately our bats couldn't come alive and we lost 2-1 playing all 7 innings.

The next game is at 12pm against either Torrance or Las Cruces for a top 4 spot!

8/2/08
Well we had to go at the Las Cruces Starz, the last non-California team left. Started out slow getting one run at a time to build a 3-1 lead. Then the bats came alive again for three more and a final score of 6-1 in another 7-inning game. We are a Top-4 Nationals Placer!!!

Next up is Northridge, who took 3rd at So Cal State, and edged by Rancho Bernardo in an ITB 4-3. This will be for a Top 3 spot.

8/3/08
An early morning game caught us a little flat and we let the Northridge team squeak one out 4-2. That's definitely one we should have had but Northridge went on to be the National Runners Up so you've gotta hand it to them.

Our girls really played their hearts out this week, kept the games close, had some great last minute rallies, and played some outstanding defense. The entire team made contributions throughout the week and we couldn't be happier with our 4th place finish. OUTSTANDING JOB LADIES!!! Great job in the stands parents, we couldn't have done it without you!!!
