Monday Night- Everyone has arrived in Salem and we now have our draw, bracket play begins on Friday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have 1 pool/practice game. Game time Tuesday is 2pm.
Tuesday Morning- We woke up to clouds and lite rain this morning, it is very chilly out. What a change from the weather back home. At 9am we headed out for a morning practice to get warmed up for out 2pm game. We play the Oregon State Champions in pool play today. Will update more this evening after opening ceremonies.
Tuesday Evening- The rain stayed away long enough for us to get our first pool game in. The Diamonds are off to a great start, beating CC Invasion the Oregon State Champions 11-0 in 5 innings. The girls played very well! After the game we were off to team pictures, pin trading and Opening Ceremonies. The Ceremonies were very nice despite the rain that started just as things got started. Our next game is tomorrow at 3pm. We will head out for again in the morning for a practice and be ready to go for our 3pm game. Will update more later!
Wednesday July 30th- After the morning off and a round of Lazer Tag at a local Pizza place, the Diamonds got ready to play their 2nd pool game. Again Poway took a early lead and finished on top with a score of 11-3. The game was followed by individual competitions of Home Run Derby, Bunting, Catcher Throw Downs, Outfield Throwing and Running Home to Home. All of the girls participated in 1 or more of the events and had a great time. In the am we are heading off to practice to prepare for our last pool game at 3pm against Laguna Nigel.
Thursday July 31th-- Our all stars find us waking up to great weather today and ready for practice. After our workout we went to lunch as a team for bonding and good times. Our last pool game was against Laguna Niguel and they were waiting for us. Jumping to a 3-0 lead LN was ready to close the game when Poway made a 9-5-4-3 double play and the momentum changed. Bats came alive and Poway tied the game in the 7th. Time still on the clock brought on an International Tie Breaker. Poway scored 1 rum in the top of 8 to be matched by LN in the bottom of the inning and the game ended tied 4-4. A great game played and Poway goes into brackets tomorrow with momentum on their side.
Friday August 1st- We have woke up to wind, clouds and lite rain. The girls are starting to wake up and get ready for our first bracket game. Game time is 10am. Will update more as the day goes on.
Friday @1:30pm- The Diamonds dropped there first bracket game to Snohomish County Express this morning. They were a very good hitting team and its seemed as though nothing was going our way. We play again @8pm! The girls will now have to battle back through the loser's bracket. If there is a team out there that can do it, it these Diamond Girls. They have shown many times this season that they can play multiple games and fight back through the brackets.
Friday 10pm- The Diamonds are on there way back threw the brackets winning tonight 13-1 against Oregon Spirit. The girls are pumped and ready to play hard to stay until the end. We play again at 10am against Central Panthers.
Saturday August 2nd- The Diamonds started off the chilly morning with a 4-0 win over the Central Panthers out of Oregon. We then had to play again right away against CC Invasion. Although we had beat Invasion in pool play, they came out a different team and it was a tough battle. The game was back and forth until the end, going into international tie break at a 7-7 tie. Poway was not able to score and Invasion was, which gave Invasion a 8-7 win. Although the girls were all disappointed to be out of the tournament, they had a great time in Oregon and played some great softball. It was nice to see a different state, meet new teams and enjoy the cool weather in Oregon. The Diamonds had a great season and should be very proud of themselves! Some have already headed home and others will be leaving Oregon over the next day or so, we hope everyone has a safe trip home!
