We Are So Proud Of Our CHERRY BOMBERS! ...
one of NCWA's 10U teams for the fall '08 season.
Thanks to our girls who practiced and played so hard this fall. We had an awesome time learning and having fun...while making some great new friends along the way!
Thanks also to our families and friends who supported our team. Here's a recap of our season:
Sept. 7 - The Bombers opened the season with a doubleheader against a tough team from Oceanside. It was great to perform in front of our home fans and show off some of our new skeeels! Playing full ASA rules for the first time was fun. It was HOT! Who named this Winterball anyway!!?? They girls played hard but lost 8-2 & 9-4. We're gonna keep learning, having fun, and doing our best. We're looking forward to next Sunday already. Go Bombers!
Sept. 14th - The girls played a tough team from San Dieguito in our first taste of playing on the road. Our Bombers played tough but lost both games of the doubleheader by scores of 6-4 and 7-2. Our pitchers played tough and we began to put the ball in play more consistently. Bring on Vista next week!
Sept. 21st - Our Bombers got their first win of the fall season ! Yahooooo! In the second game of our doubleheader at Aubrey Park...the Bombers won a well played game by the score of 4-2. It was a great win for the girls...especially after having lost a 16-0 squeeker in Game 1 of the morning. Congrats to the Bombers!! We can't wait for next Sunday for a chance to play together again.
Sept. 28th - The Bombers hit the road again for a pair of games against Carlsbad. We lost the first game of the doubleheader in the morning fog by a score of 7-2...but as the sun began to shine in the late morning, so did our Bombers. The girls really started hitting the ball well and came away with a 6-3 victory in Game 2. Let's hear it for the girls!!...who picked up their second win of the fall in decisive fashion.
Oct. 5th - Let's hear it for our Bombers! Playing a La Costa team with seven All-Star players...our girls got their first sweep of the fall by scores of 8-0 & 11-7. The girls hit the ball really well, got some solid pitching, and made some great plays on defense. It's great to see the progress being made by the girls as the season moves along. Way to go Bombers!
Oct. 12th - Way to go Bombers! The girls really outdid themselves today, sweeping their 2nd straight doubleheader, while winning their 5th game in a row. Our beloved Bombers pounded out 32 runs against Ramona...winning by scores of 17-6 and 15-1. Again, the team got solid pitching performances, timely hitting and good defense. After a 1-6 start, the Bombers have now pulled even at 6-6 on the year. The improvement is fabulous! Go Bombers!
Oct. 19th - Our Cherry Bombers played really well against a PQ team loaded with All-Star players. The first game of the doubleheader was hard-fought...but our girls came up on the short end of a 4-0 score. It was a 6-inning game that had great pitching and defense. The second game was very tight. Our Bombers got out to an early lead but couldn't quite hold on as PQ won 8-7. All in all it was a day to be very proud of. Our opponent was undefeated...and had won many of their games by mercy rule...but our girls played 'em tough and nearly beat 'em! Way to go Bombers!
Oct. 26th - All of the Bombers had a wonderful time together for their last doubleheader of the fall season. Our girls were able to pull off a solid win in Game 1 against our friends from Poway, Team 1, by a score of 7-1. The second game was a thriller...where lots of girls tried playing new positions...and had a blast! We wound up on the short end of a 15-14 pitcher's duel. The Bombers finished the season with 7 wins and 9 losses...which is pretty cool after starting out 1-6. The improvement that the girls showed was phenomenal. Once again...hats off to our girls...we'll always remember our Bombers!
